Bhutan now has a new Foreign Direct Investment or FDI policy. The industry, commerce and employment ministry launched the FDI Rules and Regulations 2025 today. The Nu 3.3 billion ESP loans will now be managed by BDBL (Bhutan Development Bank Limited) through a new office and a General Manager, instead of the previously involved banks, due to BDBL’s experience in handling such loans. Additionally, all seven banks will contribute to a Nu 2 billion reinvigoration fund aimed at reducing the NPL (Non-Performing Loan) interest rate by 4% for genuine cases.
