This siding was installed incorrectly 👀 That nail was face-nailed through the exposed surface. It should be hidden under the edge, not driven through the face. Why this matters: • Water runs down, not sideways • The side edge sees the most water • The bottom edge sees far less exposure • Face-nailing creates a direct path for moisture This is how rot starts. This fascia is face-fastened with screws — fasteners aren’t the issue. The real problem is the gaps left at the siding and brick transitions. Sealant was used in some areas, but gaps were left open. Those gaps don’t just let water in — a mouse can climb a brick wall and squeeze right through them. All transitional building materials must be fully sealed.
